Mission Statement
The Pikes Peak Miners are the flagship program under the umbrella of Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. The Miners organization prides itself on not only developing hockey players, but also capable students and determined young men. It is our goal to provide AAA caliber U16 hockey players with excellent coaching, rigorous practice, and a competitive game schedule all within a supportive environment which places emphasis on the academic, social, and mental development of all participants. It is our responsibility to facilitate the development of elite U16 hockey players and prepare them for advancement to Midget Major AAA hockey and beyond. The U16 Miners will play to win; and we will do it with class, with character, and as a team.

Hockey Training
The U16 Pikes Peak Miners will receive at a minimum 3.5 hours of ice time per week for practice. In addition, the U16 team will utilize the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as our primary off-ice training facility. Players will receive a minimum of 2 hours of professional strength and fitness training per week from the NSCA staff. The NSCA is also the strength and conditioning center for the Colorado College Tigers. Players will be taught the skills, a style of play, and a work ethic which will maximize the success of the team and enable all individual players to thrive.

Games
The Miners U16 team will play between 50 and 60 games per year. In addition to competing locally against the other Colorado AAA teams, we will compete in 10 tournaments per year, with at least 6 of them being out of State. It is our goal to get as many games as possible against the best competition in the country. Exposure to a high level of competition on a regular basis a key factor in developing the skills needed to compete at the next level.

Housing
It is expected that every year we will have a few players from outside the Colorado Springs area. Known as billet players, these young men will be set up to live with local families. Often these are families from the local hockey program who volunteer to take in a student-athlete for the duration of the hockey season. Temporary guardianship papers are filed with the local District court that give the housing parent the right to act in the player’s best interest, but does not remove custody from the legal parents. Please contact us for more information.

Education
The Pikes Peak Miners U16 team will charge a $6200.00 yearly fee. This fee covers all transportation and cost associated with Miners Hockey. Room and board payments for non-resident players are an additional $280.00 per month. Parents are also asked to volunteer their time whenever we host tournaments. U16 Miners players will be provided with jerseys, socks, warm-up suits, travel bags, and hockey bags. This also includes off-ice training at the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
