Who are the Miners
Established in 1993, the Pikes Peak Miners Midget AAA Hockey Club has served as a stepping stone for elite players with aspirations to pursue hockey at the junior level and beyond. Built on the vision of expanding hockey in the western United States, the midget program began as a spin-off and feeder team for the Junior A Pikes Peak Miners of the old Frontier Hockey League. In 1997, the Miners began competing at the Tier I level. With the opportunity to compete at elite national and international tournaments, the Pikes Peak Miners have experienced success as a team, and more importantly, recent players have achieved success in junior hockey, collegiate hockey and the NHL. Visit our History Page for more information.

Housing
Non-Resident players are housed with families from the Colorado Springs community. Often these are families from the local hockey program who volunteer to take in a student-athlete for the hockey season. Temporary guardianship papers are filed with the local District court that give the housing parent the right to act in the players best interest, but does not remove custody from the legal parents. In keeping with NCAA regulations, room and board payments are charged. Please see the Player Housing page for more information.

Education
Colorado Springs has some of the best schools in the nation. Players that play for the Miners are placed in schools that have other Miner players in attendance to ensure the transition to the new school environment is a smooth one. More can be found on the Education Page.

Quality of Life
Colorado Springs began as one man's dream. When General William Jackson Palmer first saw the scenic attraction of the Pikes Peak region, he immediately knew it was a location which could attract his wealthy European and East Coast friends. The city's first stake was driven in 1871. Colorado Springs became especially popular with the British and acquired the nickname Little London. Riding the rails, visitors came to see the area's beauty and were inspired to stay by a mild climate and the region's growing resort accommodations. For the complete story, visit our the Pikes Peak Region Page.

Transportation
The Pikes Peak Miners use air travel as its primary means of transportation. Because of the Miners highly competitive schedule, the team routinely travels to most of the hockey hot spots in the US and Canada. The Miners will use bus transportation when the situation warrants.
